Optimal Landing Spots: 2021 Quarterback Class

As it stands heading into the 2021 NFL Draft, there are at least 11 teams that could use an upgrade at the quarterback position. Realistically, there are only eight solid options to select from in the 2021 rookie class.

Jacksonville Jaguars
Not since Andrew Luck has a prospect been so highly coveted at the number one spot. This year, it is presumed that Trevor Lawerence will go to the Jags at number one. However, Jacksonville still has issues elsewhere they will try to address in the draft. If Lawrence goes to the Jaguars, he immediately becomes a top-12 fantasy quarterback heading into the 2021 NFL season.
New York Jets
Sam Darnold was an epic failure and the new signal-caller for gang green appears to be Zach Wilson. Wilson made some highlight-worthy throws in his pro day and is a high ceiling prospect if coached properly.
San Francisco 49ers
San Francisco traded three future picks to move up to the No. 3 overall pick in the upcoming draft. Yet, it still remains unknown exactly which way the 49ers are leaning. Will Kyle Shanahan/John Lynch opt to go for Mac Jones, the accurate quarterback that is ready to play now? Or will they opt to go the mobile quarterback route with Justin Fields or Trey Lance who may require some time to hammer out accuracy issues?
Pittsburgh Steelers
Pittsburgh has no backup quarterback on the roster capable of starting and Big Ben is in the last year of his contract. Yikes!
Denver Broncos
Will Denver make a move up to take the fourth quarterback off the board? Or maybe they make a trade for a vet like Teddy Bridgewater or Jimmy Garappolo?
New England Patriots
Cam Newton finally has some weapons at his disposal but is playing on a one-year deal. Will Billy Big Bucks add another quarterback? Draft day trade rumors have swirled about the possibility of a trade package involving Stephon Gilmore and a number of picks to move up for a quarterback.
Washington Football Team
The Football Team has developed a very strong roster, but one issue that remains is what the future holds at quarterback. Ryan Fitzpatrick may once again groom his eventual replacement as he did just a year ago in Miami.
Atlanta Falcons
Will the Falcons take a quarterback, draft Kyle Pitts, or trade out of No. 4 overall? Matt Ryan would leave a hefty cap hit if he is cut this year or next.
Carolina Panthers
Three future draft picks were sent to the Jets to acquire Sam Darnold, but if a quarterback falls in a dream scenario, will Carolina still select one?
Detroit Lions
Detroit has plenty of issues on both offense and defense, but acquiring Jared Goff was more about taking home future draft picks.
Chicago Bears
From Nick Foles to Mitchell Trubisky to Andy Dalton, Chicago has attempted to find the answer at QB but has not had much success. After striking out on Russell Wilson, it shouldn’t shock us if the Bears opt to take a QB.
Bonus: There are too many unknowns to speculate about who will be under center for the Eagles, the Vikings, and the Raiders. Still, these are other landing spots to consider should the current quarterback situation regress.
