Jacksonville Jaguars: Offseason Wants, Needs & Preview

[Finished 1-15 Overall]

The Jacksonville Jaguars are heading into the 2021 season with a new coach, new offensive coordinator, new general manager, fresh salary cap, and a boatload of draft picks. Get ready for a complete roster overhaul to this team. A 12-36 record over the past three seasons showcases how important the 2021 offseason is for this franchise.

The most pressing need for this team is a quarterback. We all expect Trevor Lawerence to lead this franchise into the future. The Jaguars had a rotation of Gardner Minshew, Jake Luton, and Mike Glennon who all provided fantasy spike weeks but failed to provide stability to the position. The Jaguars have failed to have a franchise quarterback since Mark Brunell. In both the fantasy world and real-life, Trevor Lawerence is expected to be an electrifying franchise corner store for years to come.

Parlaying what we anticipate as a slam dunk of the Lawerence selection, the Jaguars need to protect their most important asset. The offensive line is a pressing need for a team that allowed an enormous amount of pressure and sacks this past season. It wouldn't come as a surprise to see multiple picks and free agents from this category as a top priority for this team. The Jaguars found a diamond in the rough with RB James Robinson, WR Lavishka Shenault, WR D.J. Chark, and WR Keenan Cole, but could use depth at wide receiver, and a serious playmaker at tight end.

On the defensive side of the ball, this team needs to make some big adjustments. They hit a home run in last year’s draft with Henderson, but could still use depth at corner and safety. The Jags were absolutely horrendous against the run last season, ranking 31st in the NFL. Adding some defensive linemen has to be made a priority as this defense was also towards the bottom in sacks and pass rush.

The future is looking bright for this team, but they need to acquire the key personnel this offseason. The Jaguars have a ton of cap room and draft picks, which in turn makes them a desirable landing spot for free agents. They forecast to be a fantasy-friendly offense but will need to address defense to improve on their 1-15 record.
